Nature's Compassion made it to the Pine Ridge Reservation on Sunday night June 14th about 1130. We setup camp late that night and then on Monday we worked on getting our workspaces setup. When we first awoke Monday, one of the first things that really got our attention was how many rice hull bags are already onsite. Hundreds and hundreds of bags do provide some shelter from the viscious winds that are prominent here in SD.

Tuesday was a supply gathering day with most of our crew heading to Rapid City to pick up trees, barbed wire, lumber, windows, lime, and other supplies we will need to start this project. Last night a few of us payed our respects at the Massacre at Wounded Knee. We plan on taking the rest of the crew to visit in the next few days.

Today, Wednesday, we filled a ton of rice hull bags and are preparing to go to the Sun Dance in Rapid City. Tomorrow the backhoe shows up to start leveling the land. We hope to start bag laying in the by the end of the week.

Keep checking back for updates. View the pictures section and see a ton of pics.

My favorite experience in SD was when I played with the kids. Ever since I showed C and M how to do the dishes, they automatically did them right after they finish eating. Filling up the rice hull was fun, digging some dirt was fun, doing laundry was fun. I especially LOVE the energy around that place, it melts all my worries away. I hope to see the dome to it's full potential with the dream catcher's hanging over the bedroom loft.

So what has been your most favorite experience so far here in SD?

I have really enjoyed building the dome and going swimming at Yellow Bear Dam (aka Allen Dam). The day Lynn and I spent together going to Rapid City was a blast as well.
